President Bush referred in his annual State of the Union address to an "axis of evil" threatening world peace by its development of weapons of mass destruction. Three states were named as constituting this alliance of menace: Iran, Iraq and North Korea. The instantly famous passage from this State of the Union Address delivered 29 January 2002.
Reagan's first State of the Union address was his first major address following a failed assassination attempt on the president. The speech is also noteworthy as a statement of the philosophy underpinning his Administration's policy initiatives and the twin plagues of high inflation and high unemployment, which burdened the nation in the 1970s.
On January 8, 1964, just seven weeks after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy shocked the nation, Lyndon Baines Johnson delivered his first State of the Union address. Johnson outlines the goals of his administration, which emphasize domestic problems like poverty, high taxes, an unbalanced budget and racial discrimination
Barack Obama delivered his first State of the Union speech last 27th of January 2010, Washington, D.C. Overall, a very well-delivered speech. Obama typically can deliver when he needs to, and this wasn't any different. He was measured and precise throughout and really hit home the points he wanted to sell to the American people.
