Weapons Galore

The xylophone is a historical instrument that originated independently in Africa and Asia. xylophone was frequently used by early jazz bands in the 1920s and 1930s. Its bright, lively sound worked well the syncopated dance music of that time. As time passed, the xylophone was exceeded in popularity by the vibraphone.

Made of granadilla, rose or cocus wood, the oboe has a narrow conical bore terminating in a slight flare or bell. It is held vertically and the double reed, which is mounted in the top, is held in the player's mouth.
